INDUSTRY ANALYST: VIDEO
|
Job Description
Reports to CEO
As Industry Analyst, you will lead, shape, and expand our Video coverage and act as chief spokesperson and client interface for all related services.
Video coverage includes:
- Telco IPTV, Digital Cable, Satellite, and Over-the-Top (OTT)
- Video-on-Demand (VOD) Servers
- Encoders/Transcoders
- Set-top Boxes
- Video Optimization
- CDNs
- Video Services, including Multi-Screen
- Subscribers
Working with a skilled research team, the Industry Analyst will:
- Identify and cover video technology and market trends through vendor and service provider briefings and primary and secondary research
- Produce worldwide and regional supply-side research reports on emerging and mature product segments, determining market size and market share, forecasting growth, and providing short-term and long-term market analysis, including fundamental drivers
- In our Continuous Research Services:
- Provide constant expert opinion on the hottest video-related topics in the industry
- Develop and analyze survey research on hot video topics, providing data and market analysis and recommendations
- Consult for key industry players, including startups, well-established industry leaders, and financial analysts
- Develop new research services to provide our customers with the market data and analysis they need
- Develop and sell custom research projects for key players in the video space
- Forge and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, chip and component manufacturers, investment analysts, and other ecosystem players
- Speak at conferences and present key data findings to customers
- Develop relationships with trade and business press, providing market and vendor analysis to them and raising awareness of our services and brand
Qualifications
This full-time, permanent position requires at least 5 years’ telecom industry experience, a BA/BS, and:
- Expertise in video technologies, vendors, service providers, supply chain, and market trends
- Strong relationships with equipment manufacturers, service provider, chip and component manufacturers, investment community, media and other ecosystem players
- Solid analytic, logic, and quantitative skills
- Experience sizing and forecasting technology markets
- Polished written and oral communication, including public speaking
- Key relationships with industry associations, press, and conference developers
- Microsoft Excel expertise
- Understanding of questionnaire design and research methodology
- Affinity for working on a dynamic team

As Research Analyst, you will work as part of a team on market research services, assisting industry analysts in covering technology and market trends through primary and secondary research. This includes research on equipment manufacturer, service provider, and end-user plans and requirements for various communications technologies (e.g., mobile, wireless, broadband, video, optical, security, VoIP, microwave). Duties include advanced Excel tasks, file management, data analysis, SPSS setup and coding, web research, data entry, and making and formatting charts.
Qualifications
This full-time, permanent position requires a BA/BS (preferably in market research, economics, sociology, or statistics) and:
- 1+ years of hands-on experience using Microsoft Excel (school experience counts); must have advanced skills (e.g., PivotTable, macros, functions); VB experience is a plus
- Experience in survey research (e.g., questionnaire design, SPSS or SAS) is a plus
- Working knowledge of Word and Powerpoint
- Good analytic, logic, and quantitative skills
- Polished, clear written and oral communication; must have strong English language skills
- Organization, flexibility, and ability to juggle multiple projects on tight deadlines
- Understanding of communications technologies, vendors, service providers, products, services, and market trends is a plus
