Campbell, CALIFORNIA, March 19, 2009—Market research firm Infonetics Research released its new User Plans for Smartphone Security: North America study yesterday. Highlights from the market research study follow.
“Probably the most significant finding in our smartphone security study is that nearly half the large organizations we interviewed said they rely solely on the security offered by their smartphone operating system. Even the most robust smartphone OS, BlackBerry’s for example, won’t necessarily cover Internet threats, including e-mail and web-borne malware. All it will take is one well-publicized attack to drive the need for immediate spending on smartphone security, possibly even beyond the increased spending our respondents are planning already.”
Jeff Wilson, Principal Analyst, Network Security, Infonetics Research
